Common concerns
- A wheel drags after braking or pad wear differs sharply across the assembly.
- A confirmed caliper leak or damaged piston compromises normal operation.
Rule out related faults
A brake hose that restricts return flow can produce dragging even with a functional caliper. Binding slides and damaged mounting hardware can also affect pad movement. Identifying the actual fault helps avoid installing a new caliper while leaving the original cause in place.
Typical replacement work
The correct assembly is matched to the vehicle, including parking-brake features where fitted. Hydraulic connections, mounting points, and related hardware are handled using the vehicle procedure. Bleeding removes introduced air, and the repair is checked for leaks and appropriate brake action. Heat-damaged pads or rotors may need separate attention.
When to request service
Arrange inspection for recurring wheel heat, uneven wear, or a pull that develops during braking. If there is smoke, a significant leak, or reduced stopping ability, stop safely and avoid driving. Tell the shop whether the vehicle has an electronic parking brake or recent work at the affected wheel.
