Reasons to schedule an oil change
- The mileage, time interval, or oil-life reminder indicates that service is due.
- Maintenance records are missing, or driving habits include frequent short trips or heavy loads.
What an oil change can address
Heat, combustion byproducts, and moisture gradually affect lubricant. Dark color alone does not establish that oil has failed, and fresh oil will not repair worn bearings or a persistent oil leak. A falling oil level requires a separate explanation rather than repeated topping off.
What the work typically involves
The correct oil specification and capacity are identified before draining and refilling. Filter service should be discussed as part of the work order; it is also listed separately in this catalog. The final level and drain-area sealing are checked, and completed maintenance can be recorded for the next interval.
Before your visit
Bring the last service date and mileage if available. A red oil-pressure warning or sudden mechanical knocking calls for safely stopping the engine and arranging professional help, not driving in for a routine oil change.
