When to review fluid condition
- A manufacturer requirement or appropriate inspection finding supports replacement.
- A hydraulic repair requires draining, refilling, or addressing contamination in the circuit.
Separate fluid maintenance from repair
Whining, heavy steering, and foaming can involve low level, air entry, restrictions, or pump and rack faults. Fresh fluid does not repair a leaking hose or worn component. A falling reservoir level requires an explanation before repeated additions are treated as normal maintenance.
What the service includes
The steering design and exact fluid specification are confirmed. The selected replacement procedure accounts for the system's condition and any associated repair. Filling and air removal follow the applicable requirements to avoid leaving trapped air. The final level, leaks, noise, and assistance are checked under suitable operating conditions after service.
Before your appointment
Bring details of any fluid or additives previously used. Ask whether the recommendation is based on schedule, contamination, or a repair need and whether the leak source has been identified. If steering suddenly becomes very heavy or unpredictable, stop safely and request professional guidance instead of assuming a fluid change is all that is needed.
