Signs to investigate
- A knock or squeak occurs near the sway bar mounts over uneven roads.
- Inspection identifies excessive bar movement, deteriorated material, or a damaged mounting bushing.
Fit and condition matter
The bushing must match the bar diameter and mounting design. Loose brackets, a worn bar surface, damaged links, or another suspension component can contribute to the same complaint. Applying a lubricant without confirming its compatibility or the source of noise is not equivalent to repairing a worn bushing.
What replacement can include
The mounting arrangement and access needs are assessed before selecting the correct bushings. Bar surfaces, brackets, and fasteners are inspected for damage or corrosion. Installation follows the specified orientation and any applicable material requirements. The completed assembly is checked for secure support and normal movement, with the original noise evaluated as appropriate.
Planning your visit
Report whether the noise changes with rain, temperature, or one-wheel bumps. Ask what inspection finding distinguishes the mounts from the links. If the vehicle also has steering instability or a serious handling change, describe that separately so a broader suspension diagnosis is not overlooked in favor of a small noise repair.
